In an age of everything on show from the get-go, Burlesque dancing offers a very classy alternative. For any girl who ever wanted to be shown how to make ‘em wait and striptease like a real lady, this tournament is for you. Like a saucy X Factor, the contestants battle it out to the conclusion to be the best burlesque belle in town.
The Bethnal Green Working Men's Club is the place to be on Thursday July 3rd for heat 6 of the Female Tournament of Tease 2008. The night is hosted by 'Good Time Mama JoJo', better known as Jo King from the London School of Striptease, who is unpacking her fishnets after getting back from Miss Exotic World in Las Vegas.
The message is that “the tournament is a platform for: people who are completely new to the stage and fancy a go, performance artists and those who are looking to introduce themselves to the burlesque scene.” So, If you like to watch, the venue opens its doors at 8.30pm for a leisurely hour before the show at 9.30pm. For the brave burlesques, simply turn up at 7–7.15pm to be taught a lesson in tassles and tease with the hostess herself before the show. The lesson and show combined is a very tempting £20, while watching only the show is a modest £8.
Don’t blow a kiss goodbye to those heels too quickly either because, after the show, the night isn’t over. No, there’s dancing until a very daring 2am where you’ll get a chance to show off all your minxy new moves, courtesy of Natacha Moreau.
To enter the Tournament of Tease, point those impeccable talons at a keyboard and email Lara at whoopeeclub@gmail.com, or telephone her on 020 7012 1077 – remember to use a husky and tease-worthy voice: you’re a star!

hi erin
just looking at this and realised that it's too late as a promo... which is a shame coz it's a great piece.
i felt bad for not getting it up in time and then noticed that you hadn't posted the finished piece until almost 10pm the night before the event, which to be honest is a little late in the day for an effective promo.
however, it was only heat 6, are there many more heats? when is the final? are you up for rewritting this a little so that it is current and contains information about events that are coming up?
let me know how you feel about it.
best wishes

Hi
Aw I know - I was emailed earlier the same day about it and thought it would be a great thing to do in my lunch hour. Then my work prohibited the website so I had to wait until I got home. It was a bit doomed really!
I'll email/call the venue for more information because info. was a bit hard to find to be honest. Totally up for tweaking it. I'm actually really up for going along to the next heat so I might also do that and take some pics. Watch this space!
