We're slowly but surely making myvillage bigger and better. Which means more new sites in your areas.
We need new articles from the people who know a place best - the top bars, best places to eat, a little local history, some insider info.
Can you help us to kick start the following sites?
Antrim
Lurgan
Bangor
Enniskillen
Derry
Omagh |

Ah, good old Norn Irn
I'm a Derry girl, born and bred, so would love to help out with this section and a few of the other areas listed. Problem is, I need to concentrate on paying gigs at the minute so couldn't devote loads of time to it (that's why I haven't answered before now... busy, busy, busy). When would you need articles by?
Also, I live in London so could only give you the more historical/cultural side of things rather than where's hot and where's not at the minute; but I do take the odd trip home so could do some delving and see what I uncover.

Hey Linds, we're not launching new sites until later in the year so there's no rush!
If you can give us anything on the history and culture side of Derry that'd be fab and any extras on going out locally when you're back home would be even better...
Could you start off with a short history piece - something like Five Things You Probably Didn't Know About Derry? Or if you've got any ideas of your own? 'bout 500 words?

Hi Laura,
I'm a Belfast, County Antrim native girl. I can write about most aspects of the place really apart from uber complicated politics...but that's boring anyway! |

bah! Who needs politics anyway?
I know absolutely nothing about Northern Ireland and what any of the places listed above are like. Do you know any well enough to give us guides to bars or restaurants? |

Well I live in Belfast which is in County Antrim so I know a lot about the bars, restaurants, clubs and comedy circuit here. But if its the actual Antrim area you want info on I don't unfortunately have a lot of experience of it, or any of the other towns. People tend to come from them to Belfast at the weekends for socialising so it'd be interesting to hear what they themselves have to offer! Maybe I could find the time to go on a roadtrip- if I do I'll let you know!

| Oh, just thinking, Bangors pretty near by and I have a lot of friends from there. I also have a brother who gigs there as a musician and I've been to a few of the bars so I may be able to work on something around that area. x |

:D me and my brilliant geography!
Belfast is one of our most popular sites so we're always on the lookout for new, fun content round there. Especially short reviews of bars and clubs. I've also posted below about something I'm calling 'MyGuide'...a guide to your favourite places to drink, eat, shop, chill etc. Maybe some inspiration there?
As for Bangor - fabulous! Perhaps with your brother being in a band he could give you the lowdown on the best places to gig round there?
Let me know if any of that grabs you...
PS: not sure I've got anyone offering a blog for Belfast yet so if the idea of a monthly(ish) column floats your boat have a little look at that post too x |

That all sounds great. I'd love to do a monthly(ish) blog for Belfast. Could I write about things like Haunted Places in Northern Ireland, new comedians on the circuit (the Empire Comedy Club starts again next month), new restaurants, boutiques and stands at St Georges's market and maybe just random things I have seen out and about? My friends and I usually get up to some sort of adventure at least once a month!
Sundays are my favourite day for exploring and relaxing so I could do like a Sublime Sunday piece or something on unusual things to do when it rains- because that happens a LOT here!
Couldn't find the post you said to have a look at regarding this- what's is called?
Thanks x |

Here it is http://myvillage.informe.com/viewtopic.php?t=497
You've pretty much hit the nail on the head with what we'd be after for a monthly column so if you want to do it get that example over to me ;)
As for Sublime Sundays - we had a previous article on lazy Sundays in Belfast but it's well out of date so if you'd like to take a 500 word bash at that feel free. Also something on haunted Belfast might be interesting for the community site and would be a great one to have to hand for Halloween! Do you fancy tackling those ones? x |
